THE BITE WAS ON!
By, Keystroke, 11/13/08
Had a nice day of bottom fishing out of SI Saturday. It seemed as if every drop produced a fish. We caught our limit of ARSs, triggers, and five nice muttons along with a bunch of other species. Weather wise it was nice and we had the reef to ourselves.
The coolest moment for me happened as we were anchored up. We saw 3 derelict crab buoys float by just out of reach. We could only imagine what was underneath as they drifted out of sight. When it was time to pull up anchor we headed north to answer the mystery. When we found it we approached up wind with the sun at our backs. Kevin slung a whole squid perfectly and let it free line when we got in to range. As we drifted closer we could see a large green net hanging under the buoys and tons of bait fish & jacks. It was it’s own ecosystem floating along. Then Kevin says “Dang I’m snagged on that net” and SlobSlayer says “No your not. You got a big trip!.” The big flatty rips drag about five times and finally comes in the net. Big smiles and a celebration beer was enjoyed on glassy seas. A nice way to end a great day on the water. >>Forum Thread & More Photos
PONCE OFFSHORE
By, DudemanBubba, 11/8/08
My friend invited me out for a day of fishing on his boat. Got to the inlet around 7am. It was a beautiful day and the seas were nice.
I had stumbled across a nice ledge last spring in around 100 feet, but my bottom machine went out and we didn't get to fish the spot. Caught a bunch of short red snappers and managed one big enough for the fish box. My friend's boy was dropping a deep jig and hooked three and landed a nice king fish. Several larger than average seabass, two triggers at around 16" and a few lane snappers up to 14".
Great day on the water... I haven't been able to get out much since the summer! I hope we have more days like this between now and the end of the year. >>Forum Thread & More Photos
SI FLOUNDER
By, stevefritzson, 11/1/08
Well got to the ramp at 6am and went to get bait. We caught alot of nice size finger mullet and headed to the Inlet. Started to fish and after about 45 minutes here comes FlyinHawaiian in his Keywest with Bob(saw the post Roland). I kinda gave a heads-up on the flounder and so we were off to the races and fishing side by side was cool cause we could chat through out the day. Him and Bob caught some flounder and Roland (no offense buddy ha ha) got his azz handed to him ........well until the snook he landed.... I was pretty stoked to see it all go down cause I had the camera with me this time. I got some cool pics which I am posting and some of my catch with my uncle Joe.
We used finger mullet pretty much all day and had lots of bites. I also brought along some shrimp for backup just in case. We ended up catching 13 flounder and bringing home 11. I could have brought home all of them but I am sick of the 12 inch limit it is to small and any of you that fish for them will agree that when you try to clean a little flounder it is a joke. I made sure they were all 14 inches or bigger. Roland if you read this it was real and it was fun buddy and it was real fun!!!!!!!!!! I had a great day and I know you did as well!!!!!!! >>Forum Thread & More Photos

FISH ON!
By, fishing 24-7, 10/25/08
Aboard the ROCK BOTTOM with Brent, PaulR, and Jason. We put the boat in and went in search of bait. An hour and a half later we had a well full of pins and pigs. Ran to the inlet and first drift bam im on with a nice red, drift after drift we caught red fish, all over slot. If you were at the inlet, we were the ones yelling FISH ON every drift since we were living the high life if you know what I mean. Paul caught the only snook which was 29" and came home for dinner. There were multiple doubles and triple hookups, really a great bite. We lost count of how many fish we caught but somewhere in the 15-20 range. >>Forum Thread & More
