Popular Northeast Florida fishing hole off limits for three weeks.
Have visions of bull reds and doormat flounder gobbling your bait on overflow days at Guana Dam? Hold those thoughts until mid December.
This longtime favorite honeyhole of shoreline fishermen will be closed to recreational use November 29 through December 17. The closing will affect all fishing, parking and boat launching at Guana River Dam.
User improvements are the reasons for the shutdown. When the spot reopens, you’ll see new boat ramps, parking facilities and restrooms. Launch ramps are slated to allow public access to both the saltwater Guana River, and freshwater Guana Lake, sides of the dam. For updates on the project, call (904) 461-4054.
